Welcome to Bun Bo Hue O Nom

656 Sheppard Ave W, North York, ON M3H 2S5, Canada

General Info

Tucked along 656 Sheppard Ave W, North York, ON M3H 2S5, Canada, Bun Bo Hue O Nom is a small takeout restaurant that quietly delivers big flavor. The place may look simple from the outside, yet once you step closer to the counter, the aroma of Vietnamese cooking immediately stands out. It feels like the kind of spot locals return to again and again-quick, satisfying, and full of character.

The menu is straightforward, which actually makes choosing easier. One of the first things that caught my attention was the Banh MI. The bread has that perfect crisp exterior, while the inside stays soft and warm. Each bite balances fresh vegetables, savory fillings, and just the right amount of seasoning. It’s the type of quick bite that works whether you’re stopping by for lunch or grabbing something on the go before heading home.

Another highlight worth mentioning is the Bánh Bèo Steam Rice Cake. These delicate steamed rice cakes arrive light, soft, and layered with flavorful toppings. The texture is smooth and slightly chewy, and the savory garnish adds depth without overwhelming the dish. It’s one of those menu items that feels authentic and comforting at the same time.

Of course, no visit feels complete without a drink. The Cafe Sữa Đá, Vietnam’s iconic iced coffee, is a must-try here. Strong coffee slowly drips into sweet condensed milk, creating a rich, bold flavor that wakes up your senses instantly. Served over ice, it’s refreshing and surprisingly smooth-perfect alongside a sandwich or as a quick coffee break during the day.

What also makes Bun Bo Hue O Nom convenient is the way it handles service. Since it’s primarily a takeout restaurant, everything moves efficiently. Curbside pickup is available, making it easy for anyone who prefers to grab their food without leaving the car. At the same time, the setup still works well for solo dining if you just want a quiet moment with a good meal and a cup of coffee.

The menu also leaves room for lighter snacks or sweet treats. If you’re stopping by for something small, you can easily pair a quick bite with a drink or enjoy a simple dessert to round things out. That flexibility makes the spot appealing whether you’re hungry for a full meal or simply exploring the flavors of Vietnamese cuisine.

From the flavorful dishes to the easy pickup options, Bun Bo Hue O Nom stands out as a casual but memorable stop in North York. It’s the type of place where the menu feels honest, the food arrives quickly, and the experience feels relaxed-exactly what you want from a neighborhood takeout spot.

What customers say?

“ The most authentic Bun Bo Hue you’ll find in Toronto! O Nom has that true Vietnamese flavor that’s so hard to find here. Most Vietnamese restaurants don’t cook Bún Bò the proper way, but they absolutely nailed it! The broth is perfectly cooked, rich and flavorful with just the right amount of spiciness, exactly how I like it. The flavor, the service, everything feels like home. We order takeout a lot and have basically become loyal customers already I really hope they can open a larger restaurant with more seating soon, because they truly deserve more recognition. Highly recommend this place to anyone craving an authentic taste of Vietnam! ???????? ”

“ Tried the Bahn mi with cold cuts and one with grilled pork. It's great, thinner and longer baguette which I like. If you ask for spicy though, be prepared. Bum No Hue is also really good, but it's take out containers only. Savory sticky rice is cheap and well portioned, and steaming hot when they give it to you. The Viet iced coffee is also super strong but not bitter, with a nice sweetness that's not overpowering. It's a small local restaurant so good takes a bit of time, but well worth it ”

“ I like the taste of Bun Bo Hue here. It is very authentic. The price is super affordable. They have other Hue foods too. I really like the Banh Bot Loc. The sauce is super spicy but tasty. However, they make food super slow. It would take 20 mins to have a bowl of Bun Bo Hue, and almost an hour for Banh Bot Loc. I think if they can improve the speed, they would do much better. We will come back and support them. I hope they can do quicker next time. ”

“ Authenthic Vietnamese takeout restaurant The banh mi is delicious! Their Vietnamese sugarcane juice is special and imported from Vietnam. It tastes refreshing and unique compared to other sugarcane juices. Next time i'll try the bun bo hue noodle soup. Customer service is top notch, the owner/man at the front is very friendly and informative to provide recommendations Thank you Bun Bon Hue O Nam! ”

“ Cozy little shop in a hole. Ingredients are authentic. The owner is a very laid back uncle from Sai Gon. Food are affordable and live up to Vietnamese spirit. 10/10 would come back again :3 ”

“ Vietnamese owned restaurant specializes in Bun Bo Hue, the hidden gem beside Pho and I have to say this is extremely delicious. Definitely among the very best Bun Bo Hue in Toronto and believe I tried many Vietnamese restaurants and my standard is very high. Very flavorful broth and nice and big portion. Take out only restaurant so no dine in available which is the only downside. I'll be back to try other disk in the menu. ”

“ I came here and ordered the assorted cold cut and grilled beef banh mi. I also got the savory sticky rice. Both banh mi tasted really good! I asked for spicy and the chili's kicked my butt. The baguette is on the thin side, compared to the bigger ones you regularly see. Kinda like thing torpedo subs. The savory stick rice was really good, great flavors and a big portion of sticky rice. I definitely want to come back and try the banh bot loc and bun bo hue. ”

“ Just discovered this Vietnamese restaurant and honestly… wow. Their Bún Bò Huế is on another level, easily the best in town so far. Rich broth, the perfect level of spice, and super generous portions. Their Vietnamese coffee is also amazing, strong, fragrant, and so tasty, just like the coffee shops back home. But the biggest surprise for me was the Xôi Thập Cẩm. One bite and it brought me straight back to Saigon when I was young; the flavour, the texture, everything felt so nostalgic and authentic. If you’re craving real Vietnamese comfort food without breaking the bank, this place is a must-try. I’m definitely coming back! ”
